Local MP Visits Woodlands
A Special Visit from MP Richard Burgon to Woodlands
On Friday 13th December, Richard Burgon MP visited Woodlands. The visit was filled with excitement as Mr. Burgon toured the school, met with staff, and engaged with our pupil parliament members to discuss important topics close to our hearts.
Mrs. Clark greeted Mr. Burgon before guiding him through school. He was introduced to the vibrant learning environments, children working hard in lessons, and the strong sense of community that makes Woodlands so special.
During their tour, Mrs. Clark shared insights about the school’s vision and the challenges faced by many families in our community. They spoke about the importance of providing holistic support for students and their families and highlighted ongoing initiatives to ensure every child thrives.
The highlight of the visit came when Mr. Burgon sat down with members of our pupil parliament. The students had prepared well, eager to ask him questions about his role as an MP and how he could support local schools like Woodlands. They tackled topics such as violent crimes, social housing, litter and support for the Police.
Mr. Burgon was impressed by the pupils’ confidence and insightful questions. He commended their passion for making a difference.
Take a look at some of the questions our children asked Richard:
- What are you doing to help make our roads safer?
- How do police deal with violence in our area?
- What action could we take to stop there being so much litter on our streets?
- How can you help there be more police on the streets?
- What made you want to become an MP?
- Do you agree that there needs to be more youth clubs in the area?
- How can you increase security on our streets?
- What are you doing to create more job opportunities in the area?
- Where can we build more social housing?
We are grateful for Mr. Burgon’s visit and look forward to working together to support our families and build a brighter future for all.
