Online Safety Update

Dear parents and carers,

I am writing to talk about online safety. There has been a serious problem online involving some of our children. The school is taking steps to help, and this is a good time to remind everyone how we can keep our children safe online.

Technology is a big part of our lives, so we need to make sure our children use it safely. Here are some simple ways to help:

Check Their Devices: Look at your child’s phone, tablet, or computer often. See what age-appropriate apps and websites they use and learn how they work. Also check your children’s history to see the sites and apps they have visited.

Teach Good Habits: Talk to your child about being kind and respectful online. Help them understand what is good and safe behaviour.

Talk Often: Make sure your child knows they can tell you if something online upsets them or makes them feel unsafe and have these conversations regularly.

Report Problems Quickly: If you or your child see something bad online, tell the website or app. Let the school know too, so we can help. If you do not act quickly, you could put your child at risk online.

We are helping the children involved in the recent problem by giving them individualised support. The whole school will also have extra lessons to learn more about staying safe online.

If you need help or advice about your child’s online activity, please talk to us. We are here to support you. Together, we can keep all our children safe online.

Thank you for working with us on this important issue.

Kind regards,
