Welcome back Team Woodlands! We hope all our families had a restful and enjoyable Easter break. We’re excited to begin a fantastic half-term filled with exciting learning opportunities, special events, and lots of chances for our children to shine. With so much happening, every day in school really does count—good attendance is key!
Just a few reminders to help keep things running smoothly:
- Please ensure children wear full school uniform every day
- Children should come to school in PE kit on PE days
- Book bags should be brought to school daily
- Dinner money should be handed in at the main office
- If you have any concerns or questions, please speak to a member of our team.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. Let’s make this half-term a brilliant one!
Keep an eye on what's going on and coming up at Woodlands by checking our school calendar. 📆
Changes to walking permissions - Year 6 Only ⚠️
To support our Year 6 pupils in developing independence ahead of their transition to secondary school, we are updating our walking home policy. Year 6 students may now walk home unaccompanied, provided we have received written consent. A permission form has been sent home this week; please complete and return it to the school office.
Please note that Year 6 pupils are not permitted to collect younger siblings. For safety reasons, children in younger year groups must be collected by an adult over the age of 18 unless other arrangements have been made with the school on a case-by-case basis.
The school reserves the right to withdraw this privilege if there are concerns on the conduct and behaviour of individuals, or concerns around the safety of individual children.
We appreciate your continued support and cooperation in helping us ensure the safety of all our students.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
School Day Calendar - Academic Year 2024-2025 📅
The consultation with parents in relation to an extended October half-term has now closed. We had 16 parents/carers who responded, and the overwhelming response was that parents/carers welcomed the changes to the school calendar.
Click here to see the responses
Here are the results:
Based on the responses we will now move forward into making the changes to our school calendar which will start in September 2025. So from September 2025, the school day will be 10 minutes longer which means school will finish at 3.25pm. This additional 10 minutes every day will allow children and staff to have an additional week holiday at October half term (two weeks instead of one). Children will finish school on Friday 18th October 2025 and return on Monday 3rd November 2025.
The calendar will be adjusted every year moving forward. We will remind you of these changes again nearer the time.
RESPECT Badge Assemblies 🏅
This week we've celebrated our children's successes, with our next round of badge assemblies! Well done to all our children who have earned their next badge - we are so proud of you!
NHS Leeds workshops 🏥
This week, Year 3 took part in a workshop with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust! The children used a range of equipment that medical professionals use in their jobs to help people with their health. The team were so impressed with the children's engagement and enthusiasm too!
Jamie's Farm Wales visit to Woodlands 🧑🌾
On Wednesday, Tom from Jamie's Farm Monmouth popped into to Woodlands! He spent time with our farmers making a delicious fruit salad, baking cookies and had a tour of our wonderful school. Tom then presented our farmers with their certificates and shared the children's Jamie's Farm film! We're so proud of our children and all they have achieved on their Jamie's Farm journey so far.
Plan and review ⭐
Each half-term, we spend time setting targets for ourselves, reviewing our RESPECT Badge criteria and thinking about our aspirations!
