Please make sure that you read with your children at home every day. Any reading counts: your child’s school reading book, a book you have at home or even reading online! Make sure you write a comment in your child’s reading record. Lots of children are earning prizes for reading at home every day!

We have had a fantastic first half term of the school year, with our children making us so proud each and every day. Thank you to our parents and families for their engagement and support this half term, and a massive thank you to our staff for their hard work and dedication.

We break up Friday 21st October, 3:15pm
We return Monday 31st October, 8:40am

    School Day Timings

We are so pleased to see how enthusiastic our children and families have been at getting to school on time at 8:35 am.

From Monday 31st October, our school day times are slightly changing.

    Doors open 8:40 am
Learning starts and doors close 8:45 am
School day ends and doors open 3:15 pm

We’ve decided to make this slight change to ensure we are able to deliver the statutory 32 and a half hours of learning per week and to allow enough time in the morning to be prepared to receive your children.

  • 6TH’s IntoUniversity Focus Week

    Published 14/10/22

This week, 6TH took part in a Focus week at IntoUniversity. The children worked together in four teams: the tree kangaroos, the alpine ibexes, the slender-tailed meerkats and the snow monkeys! The teams took part in a range of seminars over the week, learning about each animal and how they are adapted to their environment and writing reports on what they have learned.

On Monday, the children started their seminars about Geography, learning about their group animal. In the afternoon, the children wrote reports and started their secret mission.

On Tuesday, the children continued to work on their secret mission and created some fantastic posters sharing what they had learned. In the afternoon, the children had a visit from two colleagues from Mott Macdonald, a company that work on a range of projects including improving the biodiversity of areas of the country and took part in some fieldwork in Banstead Park.

On Wednesday, the children spent the day learning about going to university, explored the courses they could study when they are older. The children also shared their own future ambitions.

On Friday, the children visited Leeds University and took a tour of the campus, exploring the learning rooms and accommodation. In the afternoon, the children took part in a graduation ceremony with parents.

Mr. Trower and Mrs. Hopkins are so proud of the children’s engagement and teamwork across the week. Well done 6TH!

    A message from Mrs. Clark

What a start to the new school year we have had!

Firstly, I’d like to thank our children for their kindness and understanding over the last few weeks. As you are aware, school was closed on Monday to mark the funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II. In school, we have learned about her life, her achievements and following in her footsteps. We also held a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to her dedication and decades of service. Our children showed responsibility and I know I echo all staff when I say, they made us incredibly proud.

Secondly, I’d like to thank our parents. We have changed our school day to start slightly earlier and we have been overwhelmed by the support and understanding from our families to get children into school and in lessons on time. Thank you, and keep it up!

If you’d like to know more about our staff team, please visit Our Team page where you can find out who is supporting your children in their learning.

Don’t forget, if you have any questions or conerns about your child, please speak to your child’s class teacher, pop into the main school office or give us a call.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and cannot wait to share your children’s successes with you! We’ve got lots of exciting events coming up and we can’t wait to welcome you into school very soon.

Our children have made us proud, winning the Co-op Cup competitions and with multiple comments from visitors about their fantastic engagement and enthusiam.

Thank you to our teachers and staff for their hard work and dedication, making a real difference for our children every day.

On Monday 25 July, your children can come to school in their own clothes, uniform does not need to be worn. We will also be holding an exciting attendance prize draw! Your child could win a brand new scooter! To be in with a chance of winning, make sure your child is in school on Monday!
