Woodlands Weekly | 22nd April 2022

Welcome Back!

We have loved welcoming back our children and families to school this week, after the Easter break. We hope you all had a restful beak and are ready for another fantastic term of learning!

Please make sure that your children:

  • come to school on time, every day
  • come to school every day in correct uniform
  • bring their book bag to school every day
  • bring their PE kits to school on their PE days.

We also have a number of upcoming festivals and events for our families, including Eid and Orthodox Easter Celebrations. Please return the attendance slip to let us know which day you will be celebrating this on. Children are entitled to one day abesnt from school for these events.

Finally, please make sure that when leaving the school site by the small, padestrian gate that the gate is securely closed behind you and that you do not let any of our children out behind you.

If you have any questions, please pop in or give us a call.

RESPECT Badge Assemblies

This week we’ve had our next round of RESPECT badge assemblies. We are so proud of all our children, showing our RESPECT values and our Ways of Being. Well done! Remember, you still have two more chances to earn more badges – keep it up!

Staff Ukraine Fundraiser Challenge

Some of our staff are taking on a personal challenge, to run, walk or cylce a number of miles by the 24th of May. You can find out more on our JustGiving page. We’d like to wish all of the staff taking part the best of luck with their challenge. Staff are also collecting donations for The Red Cross Ukraine appeal and for The Emergency Ukraine Animal Appeal with the Pets At Home Foundation.

Year 6 Netball Tournament

Year 6 joined some of the other local Co-op Academies at Co-op Academy Nightingale on Friday 22nd April for a Netball competition. The children have been working hard, practising their skills and developing their team work. The children showed great teamwork and communication throughout the tournament. Their hard work payed off and won the tournament, bringing the Co-op Cup trophy back to Woodlands! Well done Year 6!

Upcoming Events

We have some very exciting events coming up for our families. Take a look!

Reception Space2 Parent Coffee Morning – Wednesday 27th April at 9am

We are very lucky to have started a partnership with Space2, a local organisation who do lots of work in our community. Reception parents have been invited to a coffee morning on Wednesday, in which staff from Space2  will give them information about an exciting storytelling workshop they would like to run. All reception parents are welcome to attend the coffee morning.

Year 5 Parents breakfast – Thursday 28th April, 8.25am in the school hall

After the success of our year 6 parent breakfast event before half term, it’s now time to invite the year 5 parents to join us. The children have brought home a letter which, if you want to attend, will need to be completed and returned to their class teacher by Monday. We hope you can make it!

Our next ‘coffee, cake, chat and chill’ event will take place on Thursday 5th May. All parents are welcome to join us in the hall from 2.45pm. Please note, the event will finish at 3.10pm in order for parents to pick up their children on time.

Attendance Matters: all day, every day!
