Y5 & 6 Spelling Bee

On Friday 15th December, Year 5 and 6 took part in a Spelling Bee!

Children from each class signed up to take part, and had to come to the front of the hall and spell some moderate words in round 1. Those children who spelt them correctly then moved on to round 2!

In round 2, children had to spell a word from our high challenge list! Some of these words included: camouflage, disastrous, chronological and connoisseur.

In the final surprise round, the remaining spellers were given the task of spelling words that were not on the practice lists; they had to spell the names of cities from around the world!

Miss Wilson, our English leader who organised the Spelling Bee said:

Our super spellers tried so hard - there were lot sof tricky words to spell! It was wonderful to see all of Year 5 and 6 cheering their friends on, and celebrating the successes of others.

We'd like to say a massive well done to all the children who took part. You made everyone in #TeamWoodlands very proud!

Well done to Alishba, Jinnai and Robert, our winning spellers who will be joining Miss Wilson for the Co-op Academies Trust Spelling Bee later in the year! 👏
