School Day Calendar Parents' Consultation 👍

We're proposing a change to the school holidays from next year.

Read the full letter

Dear Parents and Carers,

School Day Calendar - Academic Year 2024-2025

Co-op Academy Woodlands currently runs quite a traditional school calendar, with holidays at the traditional times. This means that the autumn term from September to December is very long, with only a week break in the middle. This term is always very tiring for children and for staff and the winter months see a rise in seasonal illnesses that often affect attendance. This traditional calendar also means that families who would like to take time to visit relatives abroad, or take a holiday, must do so at the most expensive times of year.

Given this, we are proposing a change to the school holidays from next academic year (September 2025).

We are proposing that from September 2025, the school day will be 10 minutes longer which means school will finish at 3.25pm. This additional 10 minutes every day will allow children and staff to have an additional week holiday at October half-term (two weeks instead of one).

Currently, children are scheduled to finish school on Friday 24th October 2025 and return on Monday 3rd November 2025. This proposal is to extend that break by one week so that students finish school at 3:05 on Friday 17th October.

Your feedback on this proposal is really valuable to us; please complete this survey if you would like to share your views on the proposed changes here: Survey

Or contact school at  wood-office@coopacademies.co.uk

The consultation period for this change will remain open for 2.5 weeks and will close on 22nd April 2025

Kind regards

Adele Clark
Headteacher
